Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. – Deuteronomy 11:18,19
I’m quite sure that many of you like us are beginning to take down your Christmas tree & decorations this week. I always love to see everything in our home that Karen has so carefully placed with such love and care to give our home that welcoming feel to all who enter.
The Nativity scene is one that I am ever so fond of every year. Every time I gaze upon it and think about that glorious night when the angels appeared to the shepherds announcing Jesus’ birth, it fills my heart with such joy, hope and thankfulness. To ponder and dwell on the extent of God’s love for you, me and all of mankind is beyond words.
Sadly though, there will be many that will place baby Jesus in a box to be put away until next Christmas and not give Him His rightful place in their heart and lives.
You see, Christmas is so much more than a magical, mystical, festive season to be celebrated only once a year. Its not about the gifts, the food, the decorations, and many more celebratory festivities. Christmas in its truest sense, begins in the heart. It touches every part of man’s inner soul much like a fire that burns bright spreading its light from the inside out.
We are created in God’s image. There is a vacuum within each one of us that yearns and longs for God. Many people try to fill that empty space with everything other than God’s presence but to no avail. Jesus is the only One that can and will fill that empty space within every longing heart.
May I encourage you as you begin thinking about the New Year which is nearly upon us to consider reigniting that passion for God in your life. He stands at your heart’s door this very moment yearning to enter. I can certainly promise you that your life will never be the same.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. – Revelation 3:20
Remain Blessed,
