The Heartbeat of the Christian Life

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! – 2 Corinthians 5:17

About a month or so ago, our son called from beautiful Fairvew, North Carolina and delivered news to Karen and I that once again, we were going to be grandparents. This is their first child and we were overjoyed of course to say the least! He once again called last week and informed us that he and our daughter-in-law April, got to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the very first time. I told Grant, “there’s no words son to describe like hearing your very own child’s heartbeat for the very first time”. To know that you and your beloved along with God’s miraculous design as the Creator of all life, designed this precious new life which is growing day by day.

After we talked, shed tears of joy and said our goodbyes that day, I began to think about the “Heartbeat of the Christian Life” and what I thought that to be. As I continued to dwell on this, honestly I was torn between so many words, descriptions, experiences, that it was not as obvious as I thought it might be.

I even asked the Lord, “Lord, what is the heartbeat of the Christian’s Life?”. What is it on a day to day basis so to speak that continues to beat and give us new life, makes us stronger, refreshes us and helps us to keep Him at the center of all that we are and do as believers?

As I went through this week and continued to pray & meditate on this, I do believe for me, it would have to be my faith. My faith in knowing that my heavenly Father loves me no matter what I am, what I’ve done, what I look like, how much money I have, what church I attend, etc. He loves me with a perfect love that will never change! Romans 8:38 reads, And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.

Furthermore, my faith in knowing Jesus as my savior and having his Holy Spirit within me each and every day also continues to give me fresh new life as I rise each morning. Lamentations 3:22 and 23 read The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. To know that God’s presence is with me every day and knowing that I can walk in total victory over every circumstance along side Him, also makes my heart leap for excitement and joy.

I’m sure my friend that you could also could add your own take on what you believe to be the heartbeat of your walk with God and I invite you to do that this week. Begin to reflect on what God has done in your life. What He’s doing right now and what He wants to do in you, for you and through you in Jesus’ name!

Remain blessed,
