Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

“For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19

Your comfort zone is an enemy of your future. . .a hindrance to your success. . .a stumbling block to your destiny.

When we think about Peter walking on water with Jesus, we usually think what could have happened if Peter did not take his eyes off of Jesus. As long Peter kept his eyes on His Savior and not the “Storm” around him, he was able to walk on water. But when he began to put his focus on the big waves that the sea storm was making while he was walking on water, he became afraid. And because he became afraid, Peter began to sink into the water instead of walking on water. And when Peter began to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” And immediately, Jesus stretched forth his hand and pulled Peter out of the water and said, “Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?

You see, as long Peter had faith and kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on water, but when he saw how big the waves were getting while walking on water to Jesus, he became afraid, and when he became afraid, he began to doubt. And when he began to doubt, he began to sink. But thank God, that Jesus was right there to save Peter from sinking and drowning in the Sea of Galilee. And there is a lesson to be learned right there. And the lesson is that no matter how deep you may have sunk into your problems, Jesus is able to rescue you out of your problems, fears, addictions, bondages, etc., and all you have to do is do like Peter said, “Lord, save me!” And the Lord will save you because there is no problem too hard for God to handle.

Now I have to give Peter some big time credit here as he was on the only one of Jesus disciples that was even willing to “step outside his comfort zone” of safety and take the risk of perishing in the boisterous winds, waves and water all around him.

My friend, God is ready to do some of the most extraordinary things in your life and through you if you’re willing to step outside the boat and out of your comfort zone. Just listen to what God’s word says that He will do when you act in faith: Jesus said, “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.  Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!  If you love me, obey my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.”  – John 14:13.

God took up residence in us in the form of the Holy Spirit. The word “another” in this verse above is a specific Greek word that means, “another of the exact same kind.”  Early in the chapter Jesus told His disciples that He was going to leave them.  They were concerned about it, because Jesus had been their leader for over three years.  Jesus told them where to go, how to get there and what to do when they arrived.  Jesus had all the answers.  Life for the disciples was easy.  They did not always know where they were going, but they knew who they were following.  The thought of Jesus leaving them was frightening.  But Jesus promised to provide another advocate (of the exact same kind).  Jesus went on to tell them that while He was WITH them, the Holy Spirit would be IN them.  The Holy Spirit would do for the disciples, internally, what Jesus was doing for them externally.  Guess what?  The Holy Spirit lives IN you to do the very same thing!

So are you ready to step outside your comfort zone today my  friend? Are you ready to take that risk and allow God to show up and show out as you walk, talk and move in faith? If so, join me in expressing your declaration now, today and watch God begin to move in a fresh, new and mighty way in your life!

Father, I thank You for Your amazing and undeserved grace.  You saved me by grace, even when I was clearly not worthy.  You have stuck with me by grace, even though I have made more mistakes than I want to remember.  And even now Father, You choose to use me by grace, even though I am not perfect.  While perfection eludes me, I do acknowledge the fact that You have performed, and You continue to perform a mighty work in my life.  I am not the same person I was when I came to You.  You have helped change the way I think, feel and make decisions.  Every day I am getting closer and closer to the very image of Your Son Jesus.  You work IN me, because You want to work THROUGH me.  By faith I declare that I give myself over to You, to be use of You for Your glory.  I decrease, that You may increase in me.  I die to ME, so that You can freely live through me.  I am ready to make a Kingdom impact everywhere I go, because I know I do not have to do it in my power.  You provide the words, and You perform the work.  You also gave me Your precious Holy Spirit and He lives in me.  The Holy Spirit speaks to me, leads me, and uses me supernaturally every day.  Your power has come TO me and I am ready to allow it to flow THROUGH me.  I declare this by faith.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Remain blessed & highly favored,
