When the author walks onto the stage, the play is over. God is going to invade, all right; but what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else comes crashing in? This time it will be God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. That will not be the time for choosing; It will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realized it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. ~ C.S. Lewis

Each and every day, you and I are faced with a number of decisions that will either reflect God’s nature and character in our lives or adversely, mirror those of our arch enemy, satan. Now, these choices are completely ours contrary to what seventies comedian Flip Wilson would always say, “The devil made me do it”.

Out of His abundant love for mankind, He has given you and I free will. The freedom to choose life or death, blessing or cursing, Him or the devil. Now you might be thinking, c’mon Bryan…this sounds pretty bizarre. I mean God loves everyone, He would never sentence anyone to an eternity in hell to be tortured in blackness of darkness (Jude 13) forever. Would He?

Yes and No. No, God did not create hell for you or I or any of mankind. God desires that all be saved (1 Tim. 2:1-4). God is all-powerful and the gospel, His power to save (Rom. 1:16), can save to the uttermost. People will not be in hell because God will not save them. God sent His Son into the world so that all might have salvation (John 3:16) and He has extended His invitation to all who would come to Him (Matt. 11:28-30; Rev. 22:17).

If a person ends up in hell, he is lost by his own free choice. He has no one to blame but himself. Many see no need to be interested in spiritual things and are indifferent to the pleas of the gospel. Others refuse to obey the gospel or submit to the will of God. Some refuse to believe. Others just love sin more than righteousness. Some become unfaithful in service. Many put off obeying until it is too late as C.S. Lewis described above.

I’ve posted this before but it is so rich in its content, I must post it again. It goes:

“Watch your thoughts, they become words;
watch your words, they become actions;
watch your actions, they become habits;
watch your habits, they become character;
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”

Please notice that it all begins with your “thoughts”. Writer James Allen is quoted with:

“Man is made and unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges the weapons which will destroy him. He also creates the tools with which he will build for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace. Between these two extremes are all the grades of character, and man is their maker and their master. ”

Again, Allen expresses that man is either made or unmade by himself within the armory of thought he willfully chooses to dwell and act upon.

My friend, today and each day hereafter it is my earnest prayer that you and I would willfully choose Godly choices and make Godly decisions in our homes, our jobs, ultimately our world that God has purposely set before us.

The choice is yours. The choice is mine.
