“…As a Man Thinketh in His Heart so is He” – Prov 23:7

In his book “As a Man Thinketh”, author James Allen writes:

Man is made or unmade by himself; in the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself. He also fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.

The thoughts that you and I willingly allow into our minds each day have the ability to further us into becoming all God destined us to be or slowly deteriorate our lives unaware that it all began with our thought life.

I can get out of bed and immediately begin to allow my thoughts to wander into a state of negativity and continue down this path until they eventually enter my heart and I’m soon living in a state of “woe is me” or “if only……_________” (fill in your own blank).

Or I could open my eyes, my feet hit the floor, and immediately thank God for another beautiful day of opportunity. Thank Him that I’m breathing, I have the gift of sight, touch, smell and so on. Point being…I set the course of how my day and life will go by adjusting my sails of thought and determining the quality of life I willingly choose.

And it all began with my thought life.

In my office at work, I have this posted as a reminder each and every day for not only myself but for others that enter as well:

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Watch your habits, they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. ~ Lao Tzu

One of my favorite proverbs is Proverbs 23:7 which reads:

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

My friend, in order to victoriously live the kind of life that Jesus died to give us on the cross, we must control our thought life and not allow Satan to deceive us by allowing him to have dominion over our thoughts which leads to our hearts, and ultimately our lives.

Choose today and each day hereafter to be transformed into becoming all God has destined you to be by renewing your mind. Your new life in Christ awaits you!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

  2. Hi buddy…Great word as usual. As I’ve told others, some of my first words of the day are, “Good morning Father, good morning Jesus, good morning Holy Spirit!”

    • Man..do we think alike…As do I. Many people forget about the power of living in a state of thankfulness and gratitude to our heavenly Father. Sets our course for each day huh.
