For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

In this passage out of Isaiah, he writes that to us a “child” will be born but that a “son” will be given. Did you catch that? When Jesus was born to the virgin Mary, he “Jesus” was not only born unto us but most importantly, is that He was given to us by God the Father as a “Son”…His only Son. This is because the Son existed long before the Christ child was born. This makes my heart leap for Joy even that much more when I consider that God gave you and I what was most precious and dear to Him out of a longing for a personal relationship with His creation once again.

When Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, that fellowship was broken and lost between the Father and man.  Until Jesus, the Son was given and born as the Christ child and His blood shed at Calvary, man could not enter into God’s holy presence because of his sin. To God be the glory for now and ever more for the ultimate gift you or I could ever receive; the priceless gift of God’s eternal love and life.

As you continue through this season in the days ahead, I hope you will take the time in the busyness that it brings, and reflect how God chose you and I and the world to share His most precious gift, the gift of his Son, Jesus.
